Every year, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre (MSKCC) runs the Molecular Imaging Summer Program or “MISP”. In 2018 it runs from June 4th to August 10th in New York. The URL for the program is here:

There are many thought leaders in Australian nuclear medicine and imaging who have spent time at MSKCC and New York area clinical centres over the years. Certainly, MSKCC researchers have made a disproportionate contribution to the field. We also believe that industry can be an important part of sharing new ideas, cross-fertilization of people and concepts, and has an important stakeholder role in ensuring that we build a knowledgeable and connected nuclear medicine industry. To this end, we have elected to sponsor a MISP scholarship for an Australian participant.

Historically the cost and accessibility of MISP has been somewhat restricted to domestic US participants. We have partnered with MSKCC to create a fully-funded place for an Australian undergraduate participant with the following criteria:

  • 3rd or 4th year undergraduate in science or engineering (or an honours student)
  • Completed general biology and/or introductory chemistry, have preferably taken some advanced science courses in biology, physics or chemistry
  • Have an interest in the application of molecular imaging to biological problems in the laboratory/clinic
  • Some previous hands-on experience or laboratory work

Telix Pharmaceuticals has committed AUD $10,000 as a stipend toward the cost of travelling to the US and staying in NYC area. MSKCC has kindly agreed to facilitate the visa requirements.

The successful participant will be required to write a brief report summarizing their experience in the US and will also be eligible for further work experience at Telix, following their successful completion of the MISP.

Applications can be sent directly to lewisj2@mskcc.org up until the (extended) deadline of Friday February 9th.
